Yvette Sterling was born in Kingston, Jamaica. She attended St. Hilda’s Diocesan High School in Brownstown Jamaica, where she served as Head Girl. She attended the York University in Toronto, Canada where she obtained a combined honors degree in Economics and Political Science, and the University of the West Indies, Jamaica.
She later graduated from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California where she was a Fitzburns Scholarship Recipient and received her Juris Doctorate.
She then attended Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica. Ms. Sterling is licensed to practice law in CA, NJ and Jamaica West Indies. For more than 20 years she has worked as an employment, civil rights, entertainment and business attorney with a concentrated specialty in employment discrimination, including, sexual harassment, gender, race, nationality disability, sexual preference and reverse discrimination. Along with her extensive experience, she also practices intellectual property law among other areas.
Yvette started her practice as a young budding attorney and has successfully built a broad client base through outreach, referrals and compassionate service. Yvette is able to litigate in Federal court, State court and the Court of Appeals 3rd Circuit, as well as all courts in Jamaica, West Indies. Her professional membership and activities include: President of the Caribbean Bar Association of New Jersey, The New Jersey State Bar Association, Black Entertainment Sports Lawyers Association (BESLA), and the National Bar Association.
Today she is a trusted advisor to families, individuals, and corporations. Yvette has served as an adjunct professor at Pierce College and currently serves as the President of the Caribbean Bar Association of New Jersey. Yvette has also been the recipient of numerous awards from the NAACP, The New Jersey State Conference of the NAACP, Caribbean Image Awards and many more.
She is the proud mother of two daughters, Dr. Olukemi Fajolu and Yewande Fajolu Oteh, J.D.
Ms. Sterling currently resides in New Jersey with her principal office located in Cherry Hill New Jersey.
